Taking time to explore Greece has been an incredible reminder that perspective often comes when you step away from your daily routine. From ancient cities to quiet villages, every stop has offered its own lesson in balance, beauty, and history.
Mike and I began our journey in Athens, where the Acropolis rises above a vibrant, modern city a powerful reminder of how history can endure and evolve.
From there, we made our way to Milos this island quickly became my favourite. We took a small boat around the coastline and discovered some of the most breathtaking places to swim hidden caves, dramatic canyons, and crystal-clear turquoise water.
Every stop felt like a secret tucked between cliffs and sea. Later, we explored inland by ATV, racing past lunar-like landscapes, quiet fishing villages, and tiny seaside cafés. The scenery changed constantly from smooth white rock formations at Sarakiniko to the colourful homes of Klima perched right above the water.
Next was Rhodes, where the medieval Old Town is still alive with charm. We spent hours wandering through its stone archways and narrow cobblestone streets, imagining what life might have been like centuries ago. The blend of history and warmth knights’ castles alongside family run shops and local restaurants made Rhodes feel both timeless and welcoming.
Now in Archanes, Crete, we’re soaking in the slower rhythm of village life. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, it’s the kind of place where every meal feels like an invitation to stay a little longer.
Travel always offers perspective. Stepping away from routine creates space to think differently something I value deeply, both personally and professionally.
At The Jackson Group, CIBC Private Wealth, we often talk about life-integrated planning creating strategies that support the life you want to live, not just the numbers on a page. This trip has been a wonderful reminder of exactly that,
And we’re just getting started next up is Sicily, Naples, Rome, Florence, Marseille, and we’ll finish in Monte Carlo.
If you’re looking for the perfect travel companion for your next adventure, I’ve been reading “The Island of Missing Trees” by Elif Shafak a beautifully written story that weaves together love, history, and nature across the Mediterranean. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve finished the last page.
